This is probably one of my favorite books. I read it years ago at a family members recommendation. I have now read most of what Carol Goodman has written.

What resonates with me is the fact that in knowing the area that is the setting for the school; I have created my own vision of where Hart lake is and the secrets it holds.

This book is a masterclass in tension, restraint, and resolution up until the very last chapter.

The quote on this book compared it to Donna Tartt's The Secret History, which I'd just come off of reading and was hungry for more. This book, however, did not deliver. It did take place at a boarding school, and it was a mystery, but it wasn't terribly well written or well mysteried. Not bad, but certainly not up to the comparable story it promised.

I forgot to shelf this book but it was very disturbing...I quite liked it.

It kept my interest fairly well, but I didn't quite get into it. I couldn't quite keep the characters straight between switching from Latin to their real names. The story itself was alright, but it took me longer to get through than I anticipated.
