I read this book for research for a fictional story I'm working on and this book has been invaluable, a wealth of information on the lives of lighthouse keepers & their families.
It is an incredibly honest portrayal of those lives and Tony Parker must have been a fantastic interviewer in his time.
This book was enjoyable to read from start to finish and despite being non-fiction, it never felt like stark facts - it felt very personal to lives examined and gave valuable insight.
I have filled up many pages with notes and there is no doubt this book will be a great help whilst I work on my story.

An excellent hidden gem. Everyone should read it. At turns very funny, then takes a more serious turn in later chapters. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
