A bit of character development, new travel companions, intrigue, answers, and adventure!

If I had a dollar for every time I rolled my eyes, I would be a very rich woman. I only finished this because of the brilliant performance of Nick Podehl and the hope that the overall story would make the cringey parts worth it (like the first one). Spoiler alert, it didn't This is basically a story of a bunch of young adults jumping to conclusions, overreacting over the littlest things, and being completely oblivious to what is right in front of them. Don't even get me started on Rezkin. It's like Brad Pitt and George Clooney had a baby. I mean come on. Every woman who came into contact with him would immediately fall in love/lust over him. I swear they would get naked and jump on one foot if he asked them to. I get that your MC has to be attractive, smart, and strong but it's to the point of ridiculousness. He is amazing at everything and I mean everything. He is a "Master" of everything (healing, trade, potions, weapons), he knows the answer to every question, has knowledge no one has had for centuries, and so on. But then he doesn't understand what friendship is or what feelings are. Oh, and the book just ends. Its safe to say that I will not be continuing with this series.

Not as good as the 1st book. A lot of the stuff was just skimmed over without much detail. Still a solid 3.7 though.

I liked this entry much more than the first, and some things about the first that bugged me were actually recontextualized in a way that they actually don't bug me at all anymore. I'm excited to continue the series now where I was unsure at the end of the first book.

Enjoying this series. Love the starting premise, especially the two misunderstood Rules, and the plot is unfolding at a good pace. Wandering perspective drives me a bit nuts—I hope Kade kills that habit in his future writing.
