Esta lectura en su mayoría me frustro, en un principio es introductoria para los hechos que va a desarrollarse en esta entrega y el ritmo de la historia es muy lento. ya cuando va por el 70% del libro se vuelve interesante y es cuando se maneja bien la intriga de las situaciones por la que pasan los personajes, darles una segunda oportunidad y cuando muestran una cara distinta y más real.

La narración viene desde los diversos puntos de vista de los personajes. Uno de los contras que tengo con este libro es que el inicio se vuelve demasiado introductorio para ser una cuarta entrega y aburre demasiado. Además eso afecta al ritmo de la historia que sigue presentando más hilos narrativos y en vez de resolver cabos sueltos de libros anteriores, viene a confundir más. También empiezan a presentar personajes nuevos que me parecen de lo más contradictorios.
Por otro lado la historia se complica demasiado y en los momentos en que sucede algo es demasiado superficial. Por ejemplo el cambio de bando de Lucía me hubiera gustado que fuera más elaborado, no solo que ella suponga estar embarazada y solo decida así de rápido que tiene que cambiarse con los que ella sabe que son buenos.

Los giros argumentales que vienen llegando al final lo esperaba con ansias, la manera en que se ejecutaron fue genial, me gustó el acercamiento que magnus y Cleo tuvieron. También la escena en donde Félix pierde la esperanza es magnífica, realmente me convenció la actitud del personaje en ese momento en la mazmorra.
Y la muerte de Lysandra me rompió el corazón y no hubiera querido que falleciera, ya que para mí se había vuelto en un personaje con potencial, que demuestra con su descripción y lo más importante con sus acciones, todo aquel mensaje que quiere demostrar la autora de forma forzada con Amara, cuyo hincapié en el valor de la mujer en Kraeshia me parece demasiado fuera de lugar como propósito. Además las veces en que solo respaldo ese propósito con que ella debía vivir porque el destino la salvó, es de lo más vaga y floja, ya que ella misma explicó que su madre dió la vida por ella, no es por cosa del destino ni por casualidad que esa loca siga viva.
Ahora hay otros giros que no me tomaron por sorpresa el matrimonio entre Gaius y Amara, era lo más posible que pasará, se ejecutó de una manera sencilla pero nada sorprendente. La muerte de Gaius me lo esperaba, la historia ya tiene muchos antagonistas más complicados que Gaius. Además la manera en que muere Gaius fue resultado de que Cleo y Magnus hicieran todo lo posible por terminar juntos. Además antes de morir le dice a Magnus que su madre realmente es Althea

En esta entrega el mundo aumenta hasta presentar que Mytica no es más que una isla que se encuentra bastante cerca del imperio de Kraeshia, un continente completo invadido por el emperador. La diversidad de los ambientes es maravillosa y se presentan muchos lugares pintorescos y bien definidos.

Mis personajes favoritos en esta entrega fueron Magnus y Félix, y por supuesto Cleo.
Aún no me creo que la autora se haya deshecho de Lys. Si tuviera que elegir es preferible Lysandra con sus acciones impulsivas y con un propósito más profundo que Amara la cual solo quiere demostrar a los demás lo que es capaz de hacer, sin importar a quien se lleve por delante,
Primero magnus tuvo una evolución maravillosa, ame cada segundo en que discutía y hacía otras cosas con Cleo, la forma en que se desarrolló la interacción entre los dos me enamoró. Además que profundizará más en sus habilidades artísticas demostró otro lado del príncipe sangriento. Y hasta los momentos en que baja la guardia con Cleo (la escena en la iglesia) es pura magia.
Con respecto a Felix era un personaje que ya daba por perdido, pero esa escena en que se mostró más débil y más humano, hacía falta en la historia. Ya que este momento reavivó mis ganas de leer. La liberación de Félix hecha por Jonas es una de las mejores escenas de este libro, la manera en que la autora manejo al personaje fue genial y el modo en que usó en su favor la intriga de qué es lo que iba a pasar a continuación.
Con Cleo tuvo muchos momentos poderosos, cuando se enfrentó a Amara me demostró con acciones que ella está dispuesta a luchar por su libertad, también es un poco cabezota pero en esta entrega creció demasiado.
Lucía, aún detesto a este personaje porque no ha demostrado su punto débil es demasiado Mary Sue malvada. Y la forma en que decidió dejar solo a Kyan para unirse a los vigías me pareció abrupta y demasiado rápido, este personaje sigue siendo de lo más inmaduro y confía demasiado.
Jonas, en este libro Jonas me demostró que si puede ser un buen líder. Sin embargo por su culpa Lys murió ya que si él dejara de comportarse de manera tan estúpida no hubieran tantas bajas en su equipo. Por otro lado es un personaje importante en la historia principal porque hasta los vigías están conscientes en protegerlo.
Niccolo Cassian, esperaba pensar en él, como un bebé que necesita ser cuidado. Pero no, es un estúpido. Primero le da la piedra del agua a Amara en el libro anterior. Luego quiere meter odios en un tema que no le incumbe. Y ese final me dejó aún más descolocada, primero le lanza a una persona que su hermano murió (theon) y va y le dice que fue Magnus, abrupto, forzado e innecesario. Y además ahora al parecer Ashur sigue vivo para completar. Ya que el señorito está enamorado de una persona con la que tuvo solo tres interacciones.
Amara solo me parece un personaje forzado y superficial, un propósito aburrido y solamente para ser una piedra en el camino y en la ejecución de la trama. es un personaje tan frustrante que su narración no tiene lógica primero se siente culpable por matar a su hermano Ashur y luego dice que hizo lo necesario. Es tan contradictorio que no se que finalidad tiene, ya que es un personaje demasiado superficial que solo piensa en ser la emperatriz de Kraeshia.

My main difficulty when it comes to reviewing books is that I normally do not have much to say but that is completely a non-issue when it comes to the Falling Kingdoms series. Till now, I have had a love-hate relationship with Rhodes' writing and I don't think that's ever going to change. There were many moments during Frozen Tides, especially in the beginning, where I was extremely annoyed at some of the characters that I was ready to stop reading this series once and for all.
However, one thing got me through, Magneo. If it weren't for this relationship I would not have bothered with this book. Also as I have said in my past reviews, I really wanted to know what was going to happen to all the characters in the book. I honestly hate that there are two more books to this series because that means I still have to wait until then to be finally rid of it. I am aware how strange it seems. Why put myself through so much pain when I obviously hate it? I ask myself that question every time a chapter starts with a character I absolutely cannot stand. Those characters are Lucia and Amara. These two had WAYY too much page count and I constantly wanted to skip their chapters. Instead, I just skimmed over them. It did not really affect my reading experience as a whole which was a relief because I'd hate to be confused later on because I misread something.
Another thing I hated was that everything seemed way too convenient and unrealistic. All our main characters were bumping into each other constantly. Like are you kidding me? How is that even possible? ALSO another insta-love between characters was presented to us. How very predictable. The author really can't go a book without inserting some BS romance plot(other than Magneo of course). At this point it's equally amusing and frustrating to me.
Nothing else can be said without spoiling so now I am going to start talking in depth about the storyline of Frozen Tides.
Sigh Magneo. What a beautiful couple Magnus and Cleo make. I love them so much and I can literally read about them all day. I am so glad that they are still together at the end of this book though I have no clue what's going to happen next. Looks like King Gaius is still alive and as long as he is I am sure he's going to keep them apart which is SO NOT COOL. I am excited to see what's next. I am a bit surprised that by the end of this book we still don't really know much about the king's mom and why he killed off all the witches in Limeros. I don't have any theories about it but if you guys do feel free to comment them below.
Also who was not at all shocked in the least that the woman that King Gaius fell in love with when he was Magnus' age was Cleo's mom. I knew it straight after reading the scene when his family went to visit Auranos. Something was vaguely mentioned about it and she finally confirmed it three books later. It's funny to think that if they weren't broken up because of his witch mom, then he would have been closer to the ring that allowed Eva to control the power of the kindred. Though I doubt she'd let him kidnap Lucia from her birth mom so in a way it made sense why Gaius' mom ruined their relationship. Another reason that she was right is that Magneo would not have existed which is simply unacceptable.
Speaking of Lucia, what a b-word she's become. That scene where she kisses Magnus in hopes of manipulating him into telling her where the magic stone wheel is I WAS SO MAD. When that doesn't work, she ends up using her powers to tell him the truth anyway. First off why the hell didn't she do that in the very beginning??? I mean if she still regarded him as his brother why would she kiss him knowing she could have just used her powers to get it out of him. Plus it only ends up hurting Magnus further which is unacceptable. Towards the end of the book, I felt an immense amount of pity towards her because of the lack of people she has to rely on. I mean she thought the Fire God was the one person she could trust not to manipulate her and it turns out she was wrong about that too. I think I like her more than I did in the beginning but it's pretty fragile so let's see what happens in the next book before I decide that I truly like her.
In my opinion, this entire series is filled with young power hungry royals who are all after crystals. Amara wanting to be the empress which she ended up being at the end. Remember how she was convinced that without the crystals she couldn't be empress? Well she's empress and married to King Gaius and yet still on the hunt for all the crystals. Magnus too wants the crystals because in the beginning he thought he needed them to be a good king and destroy his father. Cleo wants them to get her kingdom back. Everyone just wants the damn crystals. You know who doesn't want them? Jonas Agallon. He's such a sweetheart now and I feel so bad for the guy. I can't believe Lysandra was killed off. Now both his best friend and the girl he loves is dead. I am really interested in the reason behind Olivia being sent to protect him and can't wait to see what happens to him next.

Yes, this book was awesome, but some things were so frustrating and annoying I can't help but wish Goodreads had half stars ratings. Anyway.
What happened to Lysandra.
Kyan, who was a baby and not at all what I expected (but really, after years reading the immortal gods that Rick Riordan write about I'm not that surprised, I'm just disappointed because I always expect immaturity from Rick's gods and not Megan's. Maybe the joke is on me).
Jonas, who finally got what he deserved but it lasted less than a breath. I hate the fact that he has the badest luck ever but I love it at the same time.
I don't remember his name but he has a dead identical twin. If you remember him, yes I'm talking about this guy. And yes, I hate his existence. And I just think that maybe, just a theory here folks, he'll eff up e v e r y t h i n g.
But that's just my opinion. It's still a very good written and funny and lovely and fantastical book.

In the acknowledgment Morgan wrote that we are amazing (readers) I say that she is Amazing! This book was absolutely beautiful! I loved every single part of it. OH MY GOD! The feels this book left me with. Magnus, Celo, Jonas, and even Lucia! The secrets revealed! The betrayal. It was on point! Love it. Can't wait for more

Okay. So I have gone back through and looked at what I wrote as I was reading and it seems like I didn't like the book but I totally did! It just turns out that I don't like Jonas as much as I thought I did. These books are hard to review without giving things away because so freaking much happens in them and this one is no different.
The only thing that I will complain about (and it's the same thing I have complained about in each book from the series) is the romance. And honestly in this book it is just Jonas that flips back and forth. He kisses Lys and then as soon as he sees Cleo he wants to kiss her but then when he's alone with Lys again he decides he's in love with just her. And that was going to be the obvious choice for him so I get that. but just make up your damn mind!
Lucia learns some hard lessons. Granted she kinda goes bat shiii crazy and deserves to learn the lessons. And then there are my favorite husband and wife, Cleo and Magnus. They had a lot of interactions throughout the whole book and i LOVED that!!! Even if almost all of them were unpleasant ones. I still love them no matter what they are doing. Rhodes also added in Felix and Amara, which was kinda cool to see the other side of things.
Nick kind of sets up for the next book to be a mess.. I was feeling really good about where everything was and then in the last 5 mins of the book Nick had to ruin it. I am starting to hate his character. He seems to mess stuff up a lot. Everything that was built up in this book might be wrecked. So I am mad at him. But then the guy that shows up at the very last second?!! like literally the last 27 seconds of the audiobook. He shows up and then the book is done. Not cool.
I loved this book. It was by far my favorite of the series... even with the annoying romances.

It just turns out that I don't like Jonas as much as I thought I did. These books are hard to review without giving things away because so freaking much happens in them and this one is no different.
The only thing that I will complain about (and it's the same thing I have complained about in each book from the series) is the romance. And honestly in this book it is just Jonas that flips back and forth. He kisses Lys and then as soon as he sees Cleo he wants to kiss her but then when he's alone with Lys again he decides he's in love with just her. And that was going to be the obvious choice for him so I get that. but just make up your damn mind!
Lucia learns some hard lessons. Granted she kinda goes bat shiii crazy and deserves to learn the lessons. And then there are my favorite husband and wife, Cleo and Magnus. They had a lot of interactions throughout the whole book and i LOVED that!!! Even if almost all of them were unpleasant ones. I still love them no matter what they are doing. Rhodes also added in Felix and Amara, which was kinda cool to see the other side of things.
Nick kind of sets up for the next book to be a mess.. I was feeling really good about where everything was and then in the last 5 mins of the book Nick had to ruin it. I am starting to hate his character. He seems to mess stuff up a lot. Everything that was built up in this book might be wrecked. So I am mad at him. But then the guy that shows up at the very last second?!! like literally the last 27 seconds of the audiobook. He shows up and then the book is done. Not cool.
I loved this book. It was by far my favorite of the series... even with the annoying romances.
