This is a cross between a memoir, a stand-up routine (some jokes are familiar) and a self-help book. Sarah Millican, she of the glasses, cake shelf and potty mouth has long been my favourite female comedian, and I read this book in her Northern accent in my head.
She talks about her childhood, her various jobs, her stand-up career, her husbands, things she's been bullied for as a kid, her insecurity and depression, her weight, her therapy, her projects, her love of stationery, and gives her own brand of life advice. I understand her a lot - I also don't drink and am happily child free and have had silly comments about it. There's even a detailed recipe for a banana cake - what's not to love?
Just champion.
