I loved this book and this actor. Stanley and Ryan Reynolds are in my top 5 actors who I enjoy watching on the TV or big screen. I found his story extraordinary. I had heard about his show on Italy and its great food. I want to try some of his receipes, but I gained 5 lbs just reading about them. I now what Stanley to write a memoir about how he is able to keep the weight off when he is eating such delicious food when he is healthly. BTW: I am so glad to hear your and your guest's reaction to that one dish. :)

Stanley Tucci needs no introduction. But seriously this man owes me a meal for how hungry this book made me.

Taste is not your typical biography. For me Taste outs the food first, and Stanley’s life supports this. The way he writes about the food of his childhood, the food of his early adult life, and the food of his professional life is incredible. The detail. The personal anecdotes. The recipes. This book is everything.

I will be honest, I didn’t know about the cancer, but the way that it impacted on his love of food and took away the thing that brings him the most joy was heartbreaking. I am glad that all things returned to how they were.

Wait, wait, wait, please keep reading. I know that you've probably already made your assumptions about this book based on the near one-star review I gave it. But I promise you, this is not a bad book in the slightest. Rather, it's just not a book for me. The two main reasons I wanted to listen to this book were because 1.) I wanted to hear the beautiful melody of Stanley Tucci's voice and 2.) I thought it was going to document his time with oral cancer. However, this book mainly serves as a testament to all the different ways food has impacted and shaped his life. And while he writes about these ways in an intimate and dare I say...sexual way, it just wasn't what I was hoping to learn. With all this being said, this is definitely a stand-out celebrity memoir and anyone who enjoys learning about food or cooking would definitely enjoy it. Unfortunately, I am just not that person.
