Maybe like 3.6ish? I loved the idea and the world/magic and there were some great characters (Bran) but it felt like it was missing something.

Pleasantly surprised by this book! Loved the folklore twist on this retelling. Looking forward to reading the second!

I loved this book! Amazing high fantasy world building, romance, great strong characters. Philosophical yet poetic.

4.5 stars!

Beauty and the Beast and the fae! Couldn't put it down. Such a good retelling, loved all the details and world building around the fae; a lot of faerie-fantasy books I've read sort of skate over the different species and hierarchies, but this book did a fantastic job detailing the different fae throughout the story. I loved that Sorcha wasn't your typical pushover/lost-in-an-unfamiliar-world type of heroine that a ton of fae stories have. She is strong, kind, and courageous throughout the story, never compromising her beliefs despite being constantly challenged.

This is book one of a two book story (part of a larger retelling series) and I've already started book 2!

The idea of combining the story of Beauty and the Beast with Irish mythology intrigued me, but the execution of it was a bit of a disappointment. I liked all the mythological aspects of the story. The writing wasn't the best, and the romance was the most contrived I've ever read. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story as some easy entertainment for giving my brain a break.

Wow. I never thought I'd like a retelling that much. Great world building.
