Could not bring myself to care or pay attention. Not sure I'll try again later since this failed to pull me in.

I find myself struggling at times to remember what happened in this book. Not to say I didn’t enjoy myself while reading, I did, but it’s not one where I closed to book and thought “ooh, I can’t wait to reread this next year before the next one comes out!” (Yes, I do that) However, it was enjoyable and I am always here for a diverse story in that Victorian England setting we all love so much.

Loved this book. Marked for spoilers because this is less review and more me just gushing about things I thought were so great. So many things to gush about: the history, the drama & intrigue, the romance, the sisters. I loved that Ana Maria had a coming of age journey, also finding and cementing the friendship and love between herself & her sisters, who were always previously set up to be her rivals. And her sisters stories!! I feel like there was so much set up and foreshadowing for what’s to come in their books. I’m dying to know what Isabel was really looking for amongst the powerful men’s belongings, she hints that it’s secrets to help Mexico, but what specifically?? And on who’s orders??? Plus I’m sure we met hers & Gabby’s love interests, at least I hope so! Whitfield & Dawson are the perfect compliment to Gabby & Isabel!!! I’m dying for their stories and can’t wait for the next installment in this series. Definitely recommend!!

I absolutely loooooved this historical romance! It was so inspiring to see the three sisters staying true to each other and their Mexican culture while escaping to England for safety during the French invasion of Mexico. Each sister has her own unique personality and strengths, and watching them support each other through family trauma and outside dangers was beautiful. Gideon was such a charming character, and I loved seeing him find a true partner to share his political dreams. I can’t wait to dive into the other books in this series!
