If only I could publish a first book this good! I only gave it four stars because I read acotar first and I believe she got better with time and those were slightly better than this one. Also the final fight wasn’t that great. After waiting for it so long I expected something more and it didn’t give me that wow feeling.
Still this is a good book that has a lot of complex characters and has a lot going on. I sometimes feel like I’m reading a filler chapter while reading some books and it feels like the author is trying to stall me while trying to get to the point but this one didn’t give me that feeling. It also has short chapters and somehow my brain likes them more.
World building is great and this is only the first book so we have a lot of materials for the upcoming books.
Yeah, Maas knows how to do it.
Summary: Good pacing. Likeable characters. Strong female heroine. Great world building. Short chapters.

Sometimes one must embrace and enjoy the cringe.
Spoiler
I did read the prequel so I know she was an ok assassin, but in this book she killed no one. Everybody is telling us how incredible she is, but (at least in this book) she is a bit useless....lilworldofbooks's review against another edition

I finished this book in like a week and a half and couldn't get enough of it. I found myself constantly wanting to know more and more, constantly picking it up. The characters, the plot , the story all amazing and its well written book. It kept me guessing, an the plot twist shocking but slightly predictable. I definitely recommend this book.
