A great page turner that I couldn't put down. Can't wait for Volume 7.

I wasn't expecting a superhero arc at all by any means whatsoever, but of course there is because this thing is the most fun.

Whelp...things are crazy bonkers now. That's for certain.

Black science continues to be bananas in the best way possible. This volume brings everything that has happened before it full circle and plopped us front and center of a whirlwind shit storm.

This is the Black Science I love.

Everything that Grant managed to fuck up for 25 issues has now come back to bite him in the ass, the dimensionauts are finally reunited just in time to witness the end of their homeworld, and the artwork for all of it continues to be friggen awesome.

This is pulp science fiction at its finest and I love it.

Up to this point in the series, volume 5 could easily be stated as my favourite yet. With a new story arc set now on Grants original earth, my earlier trepidation’s of it now maybe being too “mundane”, were easily blown out of the water.

These issues primarily follow Pia and the life she now has with her mother and new step dad Kadir. And straight away Pia is thrown head first into danger when she discovers that the Zirites have been incubating under Hong Kong and not soon after invade the entire peninsula. Thankfully she is saved by her long lost brother and soon finds out that he along with Shawn have becomes members of the league of ethical champions. This gave me everything I wanted from epic sci-fi to superhero, to even straight up fantasy with the witch now becoming an even greater threat, following her plan to obtain relics from the strongest individuals in the Eververse.

This volume helped rebuild Pia and Nates sibling relationship, and now that they’re both grown up, it had no need for unnecessary conflict to drive character growth or development. I loved seeing Shawn make a return, as well as all the “superhero” individuals that made up the league, although for many, very short lived. I’m excited to see now how the witch will become an ever present threat to the multiverse and what her over all goal will be for it.

This volume ends on one of the most action packed and suspenseful points to end a comic bind up ever. Not only are the zirites invading but the Draln death cult as well. Coupled that with the release of Har’Logh the defiler from Blocks basement (his death being greatly deserved). All of the greatest threats to the Eververse are converging in one horrific/amazing display of violence and chaos. Amazing artwork, amazing storytelling, amazing characters, a simply amazing series. Enjoying this re-read of the series and can’t wait to finally get to volume 9 and complete the series.

Without spoiling too much, every single plot thread comes to fruition in this volume, even things you might have forgotten about from the first few volumes. Very satisfying and cathartic.
