The Vine Witch is a fine enough story, that mostly kept my attention, and had a decent resolution.

I would have enjoyed more magical elements, and seeing that stuff in “real time.”

I didn’t mind reading this one but will not be reading the follow up stories.

Talented writing style
I liked the tone, perfect for fall
I liked the redemption
Settings were well described.

Dislikes.
Didn’t care much for main characters, I didn’t know them well enough to root for them.
“Love”story non existent. “I touched and felt a spark, now we are in love “
Unanswered questions at the end.
When character would “discover “ something, the readers like, “wait were we not already supposed to assume that?” It just was never a shock, maybe foreshadowing clues were too strong, to the point where I felt like they were agreed upon facts.

Combining vineyards and winemaking with witchcraft makes a very interesting and fun story

4.5? The writing and the world itself and the characters made up for the semi-predictability of some of the plot points. (It seemed obvious to me who the villain was from very early on but maybe it was supposed to? If not it's probably just bc I read... a lot, so almost everything plot wise is obvious to me.) But it was good enough to not matter, in my opinion.

Engaging

Really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well developed and with a mysterious curse to solve that made for more than just magic use.

2.5 Stars.

This is a fantasy novel about a 'vine witch', who is a witch who focuses on wine. At times I thought this would be a three star book, but the ending really went off the rails for me, so down it went.

I feel like the author has a nice writing style, it's pretty lyrical, which I enjoy. The concept of the book, with the idea of a 'vine witch', is something I had never heard of before. But, unfortunately there were large plot aspects that were incredibly predictable, and a few major eye rolls as far as romance goes. It's really NOT a 'bad' book, but I always rate on what my gut says, and my gut says 2 (and a half) stars.

If you are looking for a comfy beach read, or low involvement type book, this is a fast and easy read. But, don't expect to be challenged or riveted in any way.

I loved the concept, characters, and touches of romance.
