It is more of a self-healing book than the romance story of Harriet.
But i liked it nevertheless.
She is been through a lot in her past and she is being through a lot. So we need her to heal.
And that’s what is about in this book.

If you're looking for a romace book this is not it. The romance felt really rushed and was only in the last chapter of the book.

But if you're looking for an insightful book about past relationships and how they shape MC and her struggle about gaslighting with a strong character development than this is it.

I only really got into the book halfway but then I was really invested. Seeing how MC finally let herself be free from her past relationships and how she stood up for herself was so great. While MC and ML had great banter and were a little bit flirting with each other, the book only focused on them at the end of it which felt really rushed.
didn't help that they married in the end after MC said so many times that she didn'twant to marry at all so that made me question the ending.

Witty, great characters, and a beautiful story of moving past an unhealthy relationship. This book is more women's fiction than romcom, in my opinion, but the romance is there as well as the fun. As someone who escaped a verbally and emotionally abusive relationship in my early 20s, this was as much about affirmation as it was entertaining to read. Pick this book up and give it a go! I loved Harriet, Cal, Sam, and Lorna as characters. Great character development, they were genuine and fun. McFarlane tackles a tough topic using wit and a happily ever after.
