This an story where the main character cuts themselves spiritually. The main character displays the classic addiction to self harm. It seems that the main characters feeling of self worth depended on her ability to reproduce, and when she could not or had a difficult time doing so, she felt that she was not worth the kindness of her partner. She begins to punish herself by indulging in an affair with someone she does not love, thus making her feel more unworthy of kindness, and justifying her affair. Thus she is stuck in the cycle of loathing.

I can't even begin to explain how intense this book was. One of the most intense adult romances I've ever read.
Wow wow wow there was so much angst throughout the entire book. I stood up so late last night until 5am to finish this book.
And I can't stop thinking about it yet. I kind of wish I didn't fly through it because now I want to go back and re-read some parts.
If you're into new adult or adult romances definitely check this one out! I bought the ebook for$0.99 on amazon!

I read this for our book club. Though I did not enjoy it, I was curious enough to finish it. Sadly most of the writing was just not engaging for me, and the first 70% felt really dragging. I did not see the point of the flashbacks (except maybe for the erotica). All the characters are either hateful or too good to be true. Some actions and decisions were also inconsistent to the characters’ personalities. I could have appreciated the honest portrayal of a grieving woman who just can’t have a baby, but the novel was not able to give it enough gravitas, except for using it as plot tool to justify all the cheating. I’m so sorry to everyone who claims to have loved this, it’s just not for me.

Mia's writing is beautiful. This story is not, not because it's a bad story. It's just hard to stomach. There is cheating and a love triangle which I don't love so that's on me. I thought several times about not finishing it, but I couldn't because the story kept pulling me in. So if I based this on writing alone, it would be a 4 to 4.5 star. The plot just killed me. I don't know if it's fair to rate a story based on not liking the main character and hating the plot. I mean it happens in real life, but I want to read a romance where I feel good at the end. I didn't feel good at the end even though it does end in an HEA. Maybe I'll take out the star rating after I've sat on this for a few days.
