This book made me feel claustrophobic, and it didn't add a lot to my life. The idea was not bad though.

The introduction and afterword that sandwich the comic are unmissable. Soft City is an eerie mirror of dystopic symmetry that charms and evokes laughter even as it twists the knife if your gut.

Henry Darger + George Orwell + Karl Marx = This. The loose drawings and minimal (word-based, anyway) storytelling still pack an unnerving punch. One of the few graphic novels I will keep around for repeat readings and reference.
