Very old school machismo vibe, but honestly I never thought I would enjoy a book like this. He’s the stereotype male lead character that is mysterious and knows many skill and is just overall cool guy without even trying. Definitely autistic haha. Plot was good but they just kept adding a lot of characters so it was a little hard to keep track of everyone. Overall entertaining read

fab character development--complex and rich

Excellent as always. Joe is a great character.

Just couldn't finish Silent Joe...got to exactly the half-way point, set it down, and just couldn't find it in me to pick it up and continue. The main reason, TOO MANY CHARACTERS! Driving me nuts....a new character every couple of pages...I kept losing track of them all...-Time to move on...

Interesting characters. Fast moving story with lots of mystery to solve. Lots of twists and turns with great descriptive writing. Joe, main character, must find who killed his adoptive dad. His dad was a politician caught up in a powerful web of people. As Joe investigates, he discovers several secrets along the way. Great suspense! Will read more by this author.

As I read this book, I kept wondering why the main character had never been diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum. Then I saw the copyright date of 2001. Okay, that makes sense now. Despite being an older book, it's still a heck of a gripping read.

Well, this was quite the page-turner! The storyline has a level of  intensity, which kept me fully engaged throughout. What really stands out are the characters; they're incredibly well-developed, each with their own flaws that only make them more endearing. Despite the intricate plot, it remains coherent and never feels overdone, adding depth without being overwhelming. Overall this was a captivating read, combining a fast-paced narrative with relatable characters and a plot that was both intricate and satisfying.

There was a lot of extemporaneous fat around the good mystery center of this that bloated the story a bit.

You get what the novel is after about a quarter of the way in, and there are whole chapters that can be skipped. We get it a lot faster than Joe does; the mystery isn't that complex. In the end it feels padded more than it feels like an in depth character study.

3.5

Good story about an young, acid-scarred detective trying to solve the mystery of his father.
