I am a giant baby who can't handle real spooks and this is in direct contradiction with my love for October, Halloween, and the macabre and gothic. So every October I make a list of books with spooky vibes that won't keep me up at night. This fit the bill. I genuinely enjoy Hercule Poirot and find his reliability and demeanor to be calming. He's basically the antithesis to my anxiety disorder and i can only ever *dream* of being that calm, cool, and collected. Anyway. I've read so much Agatha Christie this year and I've now read enough to know that i prefer the Poirot series to anything else. I love that i hardly ever know how it will end and never end up guessing whodunit but that the formula is consistent. I LIVE for the moment when Poirot sits everyone down and explains how the crime happened. I wish i could bottle up that feeling. This book served that and it was good. I do, however, think that some of the mystery felt really convoluted and even after watching the film i couldn't work out how all the pieces connected. That's probably a Taylor thing and not a Christie thing. Overall, this was a quick read and satisfied a mood. **My 2.5 star rating doesn't mean i didn't like. It means it was just okay.**

I expected more thrill and chill from the book. I'm not a fan of the style, but it was interesting nonetheless.

A slog. A real panicky, overstuffed, and uninteresting slog.

First time actually reading Hercule Poirot, I love the TV version. Atmosphere, tension and great characters.
