There are so many, many books written about WWII it may seem like no more should be added. But The Life of Objects offers a new space in which to imagine what it was like to live through it. It is a quiet book, and effective.

Not a bad story - but honestly felt that Beatrice (Maeve) was watching forever in the hallway and just relating stories to us - she was never someone to form a connection to. Working on a full review.

Good writing and story but I don't enjoy WWII settings and never connected with the main character. Loved Moore's _in the cut_, it's one of my top 10 favorite books, but this was so bland in comparison. I kept waiting for Moore's trademark style to reveal itself, and was disappointed. Surely those who love WWII fiction will enjoy this one.
