Wow - British people were insular and racist in the 1950s. Who knew? Thank god times have changed and we're now an outward looking and multi-cultural nation*. Actually I was disappointed by this when compared to other representations of the immigrant experience by the likes of [a:Naipaul|3989|V.S.
