I got pretty late into the hype of the book and to be honest, it sparked my interest, when all the messiness around the movie adaptation started. I get the hype, since the main topic is so often overlooked and misunderstood. And I get the whole outrage when it comes to the casting choices :)
When it comes to the writing style, i do not see any specific style that would make me want to go back and reread bits of the text over and over again, but it delivers what it needs to deliver.
Now for the more specific parts, which will include:
 <spoilers>
- The fact that we get to learn about her teenage years through her diary entries and always little by little, was a really smart way to keep the reader hooked.
- I hate that everything comes so casually and easily when it comes to money. It always seems like a real shame and easy way out of every situation. Either the characters are loaded with money to begin with or they have an ultra successful business in the most basic or most difficult fields.
- Why was there a love triangle? Why must there always be a love triangle? It would have been a strong enough story if she ended up making the decision she did at the end without running back to a past love… I think for Atlas it would have also be a more satisfying ending to find someone else that loves him without the baggage of trauma bonding.
- The decision she makes in order to save the relationship, I find really important and impressive. But I do think it was tainted by the events in the epilogue.
All in all a solid and emotional read.

I’m not one to normally write reviews, but this book really moved me. I went into it just knowing it was a romance novel, and started thinking it was overhyped almost immediately. However, once Part 2 started, I was proven wrong. Highly recommend this read.

From the first page, I knew I wouldn’t be able to set this book down. I read it in one night and so much of it resonated with me that I needed a moment to process everything when I turned the final page.

The characters in the book are more human than I have seen portrayed in a novel in some time. The author helps you feel love and hurt and anger and fear and a gamut of emotions in between, both with and for, each character. The journal entries from the teen years of the main character establish a strong understanding of her reasoning and bond you with her as she travels through her familial relationships and her friendships. The respect you find for her in her confusion and her decisions is deep and strong. The other characters all bring light and dark and love and loss to the table and it is frustrating when you want them to do something to keep with the idea of a fiction novel versus what they should do…be just like people and do just what we do…make mistakes. I will read this again and am looking forward to the sequel. I laughed and cried and loved along with Lily and I am not ready to let her go just yet.
