I personally don't mind an almost scientific and somewhat philosophical approach to the topic of love, but I certainly could have done without the content of this series of essays/novel. It's just so pretentious and pseudo-analytical, I could not handle the "woe is me"-narrative. Also, the word "love" is used far too freely, when really we were talking about infatuation and attraction at most.

Did this depict the beginning, middle and ultimate demise of a relationship? Sure. And I know that not all relationships are healthy and an example of great communication, but the ego of the narrator, the judgment he bestowed upon his love interest ... none of the toxic traits were actually pointed out as being faulty. No, we rather have to quote Nietzsche, Kant, Mills and so many more. I'm so glad I'm done with this.
