This was a cute story but that’s about it. It seemed more like fan fiction than an actual novel most times. That’s not to say that fan fiction is bad or below novels, but there are definite differences.

One of my main gripes with this book is no one had to really try or overcome anything major. The main conflict of this book was something that was already worked through by the time the story was half over and then brought up again later as if it was new. Don't get me wrong, I love a happy ending but literally every story line ends happily with little to no effort from any of the characters.

That being said, I enjoyed the characters and their quirks. There was a lot of growth that happened in a short amount of time despite the lack of struggles/conflict.

Sloane and Jasper are so cute. Childhood best friends to lovers has always been a favorite trope of mine. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the damsel in distress vibe Sloan had and the supposed ‘unrequited love’ but it really went well. Elsie Silver makes tropes I thought I didn’t like shine. I just loved everything about them. Jasper is honestly so pretty to me!!  a tortured closed off book boyfriend just does it for me!!! They really felt like Yin and Yang. If anything, id say Jasper and Sloane are soulmate material. I knew when he only said a few words but man THAT MAN IS A FREAK. In a good way of course. Like who gave him the right to be so damn hot all the time?? I was actually kicking my feet and giggling so hard. I just really loved how they supported eachother and the whole “it was always you” fuck my heart hurts. ELSIE SILVER my lord and savior. Reckless is going to make me loose my mind but what’s new in Chestnut Springs. Whew lord I love men written by women.
Bro her dad was PISSING ME OFF AND sterling?? Jesus. Nothing will ever piss me off like Rob from book one. I’m plotting his downfall

“Times have changed, Sloane. I’m not scared anymore. You’re not my fucking friend. You’re just mine.”

“Don’t you get it, Jas? I’ve seen all the darkest parts of you and I’m still here. I still want more. Stop trying to scare me away. It isn’t going to work.”

“The answer is no. None of that shit matters. Because we’re me and you. We’re us. Unlikely and inevitable all at once. We’re forever.”

“See, Sloane? You can wear someone else’s ring, but we both know you’ve always been mine.”

“Sunny, you’re gonna make me lose my mind.” “Good,” I murmur against his mouth. “We’ll be insane together. I’m so tired of doing it alone.”

“Nah, Sunny. You’re my only girl.”

Jasper: You’re not people.
Sloane: Lmao. What am I then?
Jasper: My person.

“The real question is, do any of those other people matter when I only ever see you? When I only ever think about you? When I’ve done nothing but become more and more obsessed with you since I was told to stay away from you?
Do they, Sloane? Do they matter? Does any of that seem like it matters on the face of what you and I have happening right now? In the face of eighteen years of friendship? In the face of wanting each other for so long? Is a single other person even a factor? Even a blip on the radar?”

The pacing in the beginning of the book is a little weird. So many things happen in those first fifty to one hundred pages. There were several scenes that struck me as strange throughout the book, like checking him out while he’s puking. Not my favorite read.

Jasper and Sloane were adorable! Their will they won't they childhood love was super cute! I appreciate their communication about issues but my issues comes from something else. Although the "cousins" thing isn't my issue it is a tad weird. My issue comes from the sudden 180 Sloane has in regards to the wedding. In the beginning she is adamant on marriage and that her dad has her best interest at heart. All it takes is one video of Sterling fucking a stripper? It just feels like she'd go to her dad and not Jasper with all the backstory given on why she was getting married in the first place.
