may 2023 reread
broke my heart into pieces and the worst part about that is my favourite characters in this book would hate that about me.

(this is me on the verge of a break down I'll come back and so a proper review maybe lmao)

I can not form words. I literally have nothing to say except that I love my babies and all these weirdly adorable moments in the book is making me tear the fuck up and the third book better be good to them THEY DESERVE HAPPINESS GIVE THEM A BREAK

oh my god.

Honestly didn't expect such a good sequel to the first book, which was too unorganized. Im still not the biggest fan of the writing, but it's decent. The book solved a lot of issues I had at first, especially regarding the characters. You could definitely feel that the author invested way more time into the sequel.
The dynamic is even better now, after we finally got some reasonable explanation on why some of them act the way they do. But I wished that the mc would've gone at least once to the psychiatrist like the other characters did, because those were my favorite interactions.

The coach Wymack definitely is my favorite character and the scene at the end broke my heart.

Neil, Wymack called him, even when he looked like this, even with his father's face and his father's eyes and the Moriyamas' number on his face. Neil, Wymack called him, and more than anything Neil wanted it to be true.
He stopped fighting to get free; the hands that had been trying to wrench Wymack's arms off him now held on for dear life. "Help me," he said through gritted teeth. "Let me," Wymack shot back, so Neil closed his eyes.

He was their family. They were his. They were worth every cut and bruise and scream.

All in all it was way more devastating than the first book that I had to put it down twice, just to organize my thoughts and stare into my wall for 10min.

  • My review is for all three books
  • The series is wonderful yet Sakavic found a way to ruin it every time it began to shine. From the unneeded
    sex
scenes-which frankly felt forced and were included for the sake of fanservice, entire lulls in between rushed arcs, to the edgy, dramatic, and repetitive situations all come off as above average quality Wattpad mafia fanfics. That being said Sakavic still had me wanting to find out what happened to the characters despite my aversion to sport themed content normally. Finally, the ending felt entirely too rushed and highlighted how Sakavic uses trauma as a romance plot rather than the seriousness it should have been dealt with.

This is the darkest book in the trilogy and definitely not for the faint hearted. Please go through the trigger warnings before you attempt some pretty brutal themes. But if you can stomach them, you shall be rewarded by beautiful damaged characters doing their best to survive, going to therapy (eventually) and making something of themselves. The Foxes are the best found family and Wymack and Abby are the true MVP's of this story

I couldn't put it down
