I am pretty sure Escape Journey was supposed to be a single volume manga only, but got a continuation because of its well deserved popularity. Because of that, I was a bit wary of where this was going to go, but I need not have worried. If you like your BL with a RL touch, this definitely is for you, although man, why does RL have to be this depressing for gay people? Sigh. Surprisingly I even liked the drama involving the ~other guy, mostly because it wasn't handled in the usual cheap way. I am really curious (aka dying to know) how it all turns out....
IF NOTHING ELSE, I will give this manga credit for being the only yaoi manga I've ever seen that contains a panel literally drawn with a view from the inside of someone's asshole.
I was even tempted to include a screenshot in my review because I had to look at this with my face eyes and other people should have to too but I refrained so you're welcome.

Very glad I followed the overall strength of the first book here, and didn’t let That Scene - which truly ruined the whole thing - end this series for me, because this instalment has no such awfulness, and is even better than the first book would have been without Said Scene. I especially flipping love Nishina, the new character. Still rooting for Nao and Taichi, but hoping Nishi gets his happy ending too.
May 2022. BL manga series about two guys who dated in high school and had a bad breakup, and find themselves in the same major and friend group when they start college and struggle to work out what they should be to one another now. Volume 2 has them in an established relationship and continuing to grow together and have some conflicts as a couple.
I enjoyed the characters and the story. It was often playful and the changing dynamics with the characters was propelled by the ways they have and haven’t grown as people, and their continued doubts and immaturity as college freshmen.
All 3 volumes available through Sac library system.
“Escape Journey” volume 2 by Ogeretsu Tanaka.

Nishi saved this volume. I really like his character despite the weird pointless blackmail that was included. Like what was the reason? I reallyyy don't like Taichi. He's built up to be this sweet and shy dude, but he has anger issues and he really doesn't talk about anything. Nao deserves better, but I KNOW Nishi is stuck in second love interest hell. He's just going to move along the plot and bring the MCs closer and add a little drama. Ugh.
