This book was just ok for me. It was a little depressing. And it seems like there is just no hope. I didn't like that about it. And the ending!!! Ugh.

This was better than the first book. It wasn't as slow as the first book was at times. Definitely worth the read.

What a TERRIBLE book. I'm not sure why I put myself through this when I found no enjoyment in Defy. The one star that it earned from me was for having a plot line that could have had potential. While it was somewhat action packed, the main character is terrible and not likeable and too absorbed in her feelings for the King to actually be believable as a strong female character. HOW can she be thinking about romance when so many terrible things are happening in Antion? (Side note, just realized that if you flip the n and the a in Antion, it spells nation). I can't stand Alexa, the writing is poor, and this series is seriously lacking some deeper aspects, and plot development.

This is a great follow-up to the first novel. Damian is trying to set right all of the wrongs of his father, but things are not as peaceful as he thought. A new threat surfaces and Alexa will stop at nothing to protect her king. Even though she is totally not in love with him. Totally not...

I am excited for the next book in the series.

Okay so this was better than the first, but that's not saying much.

The romance was still it's usually cringey self. I really don't like any of the characters in this series. Alexa is whiny, Rylan is a jealous brat and Damian is irritating and also a brat. The amount of times I thought men are trash while reading this is ridiculous. The love interests are such trash. If she says she doesn't want to date you then fucking accept it and don't treat her like garbage for it??? Given the mc is also garbage too for saying she doesn't like a guy and then getting pissed off when he's off with another girl. Ugh I just cannot. The rest of the characters fade into the background for me. I don't really think of them. The plot got better in this one, but I still feel like it could be expanded better. Also I freaking hate how repetitive it was when it came to the stupid power the two new antagonists had. Nothing is really explained that well when it comes to the magic system or the plot because the author focuses soooo much on the crappy love story. I'm writing my review very late so I honestly don't remember much about this book except for the fact that I was very annoyed. I just have one book left and then I'm doneee with this series!
