Eden’s story is a heartbreaking journey through the aftermath of being sexually assaulted. Having not been through this trauma myself, I don’t feel I can adequately speak to the way Eden’s experience is written. Although fictional, this book elicits very real feelings. I was broken when Eden tried to unsuccessfully piece herself back together and felt her triumph as she finally let her voice be heard.

I would definitely read all of the trigger warnings for this title before reading.

OOF. This one hurt. Emotionally, it had me in its clutches until the bitter end. This is a great look at sexual assault and the need to believe survivors. There are moments I think it could’ve done with some editing, but in most ways, the repetition served the purpose of highlighting Eden’s trauma, so it worked. I wish there had been more closure for Edie with her friendship to Mara, Steve, and Mara’s boyfriend, but ah well. The ending was mostly satisfying nonetheless.
