I can't make any judgement as to the quality of the translation of this particular edition, but I found this a mostly clean, engaging read which pulls the reader along. There are times when the translation is a little clunky, the syntax confusing for the Anglophone reader, but it seemed to be mostly in service of an attempt at preserving some of the original metre and some sense of the millennia separating us from Sophocles. The stage directions, use of font changes and labelling to indicate when lines are sung or chanted, and brief textual notes, will no doubt make this a helpful edition for students.

Antigone—3; Oedipus plays 5. Antigone's just a little too redundant on its core message. French rework/adaptation is better.

Absolutely loved "Antigone" and the tension between honoring the gods verses honoring the civic laws of the land. That tension between church and state never went away.

Hated "Oedipus at Colonus" due to the fact that it was just an origin story for a city little remembered by history.

Disappointed with "Oedipus Rex" which is a great story but was not told in as engaging of a manner as I hoped.
