Slate is a shifter and alpha of the Ash Mountain Pack. Grier is a human who was adopted by a shifter couple who are part of the Ash Mountain Pack after her parents abandoned her. Grier feels unwanted by the pack even after she finds herself the fated mate of the Alpha. Will their love be enough to convince Grier to stay a part of the pack or will she decide it is time for her to leave?
Another great book from Skye Alder! I was so captured by the story that I read this book in basically one sitting. If you love short and steamy shifter stories you definitely need to check out Skye!

Reminded me of Wattpad werewolf stories which isn't bad but just kind of cringey now that I'm older. The story didn't even have any plot. It's basically just the alpha meeting his human mate. The human mate gets scared and runs away. Alpha brings her back and they live happily ever after. It didn't excite me or get me hooked. Glad this was a fast read though.

It is a short some sort of steamy novella. Most of all I missed a plot... it had so much potential...

Quick short read, but the narration style didn’t really work for me. I didn’t really like the pack. Not that we got to know any of them, but what we did know didn’t do them any favours. After the way they treated her as a child they didn’t deserve her.
I also didn’t really like the two main characters.
It was read as a trial and I’m not going to continue with the series

Grier has been living in Ash mountain for years but being the only human kinda sucks since she feels she has no connection with anyone.. she isn't invited to dances, running nothing.. making her doubt herself in this pack and town. She has a nice sorta friendship? With Slate the alpha but its a quick hi and food.. she made her choice to leave when the pack has a meeting and some harsh words are said about Humans that has Grier making that choice to leave.

Tons of tension and some dirty moments.. now Slate has to show his mate his feelings are true .
