A completely new view on our history. There is so much in this book that I hadn't thought of, not including everything I've learned that I previously didn't know.
I recommend this book to anyone that has an interest for history, as it gives you such a vital new perspective to it, and thus to our current affairs and situation in the world today.

To say how proud I am to finish reading this book is an understatement.
The experiece of reading this book is like riding a rollercoaster. there are bright and dark chapters. but also pitch black, and the chapter called 'road to genocide' clearly brought tears.
I mean, look at how far mankinds have come.
Such an insightful book.

A lengthy and pleasant walk through history seen through the filter of 'silk roads'. The book is well researched and well put together and offers its take on history from an oriental perspective, instead of the regular Western viewpoint that we tend to see applied by Western authors.

Breezy run through the history of the silk road, but that focus is a little uneven and was surprised it does a very breezy run through of the last few decades stretching the definition of silk road in places. Probably preferred something a bit more focused.

It gives the reader a sense of the sweeping history of the Middle East. It gives us a much better sense of modern history.
