As much as I wanted to love this story, it just didn't do it for me.
Don't get me wrong the plot was really good and very promising.

Unfortunately it was just incredibly long and dragged out for my liking. I actually found myself skipping through some pages as it felt pointless.
It was just a long book with nothing really happening at all.

3.5 stars.

my expectations were probably too high since it was recommended to me by people who had LOVED it. so i expected to love it too. ehhh.
i definitely liked some aspects of it but small things bothered me throughout it.
the author did NOT have any understanding of american politics, nor did she understand that the daughter of a senator who's running for president is already in the spotlight.
it's not possible that she's invisible to the media until he's elected.
another thing that bothered me was the hero's lack of understanding towards the heroine's physical boundaries and ptsd in the beginning. and then he says he'll never leave her but as soon as she's upset about something he threatens to get reassigned because she's upset? hmmmm. don't like that.

and tbh i skimmed most of the sex scenes. it felt too much like reading two teens going at it. the last half of the book was them making out all the time, even in front of other people to the point of it being weird. it felt too adolescent.
im pretty sure this is gonna be one of those books i'll forget about in a little while, and never think about again. if it turns out not to be, if it turns out i miss the characters and want to know what happens next, i'll pick up the second book.

3.25. Okay, so I have several problems with this book. It was overly long, took forever to develop and the characters could get annoying at times. I'm not going to go into the believability of the plot since it is a romance and I try to suspend some reality when reading these kinds of stories. Overall is was enjoyable. I was hoping this would be like Easy by Tammara Webber which is one of my favorite Adult contemporary romances but ended up being quite different. So if you are looking for a decent story line, adult romance with darker themes and can suspend some believability of plot, check this one out!

This was a highly emotional yet great book. It deals with some disturbing subject matter. If you don't like dark subjects then don't read. Some parts were frustrating and make you want to strangle the heroine and a few parts not quite realistic. I could also tell by some of the language this book was written by a British author even though story takes place in America. Definitely worth reading and gave it 5 stars.

The first chapter nearly killed me. My heart was racing and I was totally flummoxed that hubby had managed to fall asleep whilst this was happening (although I now realise he had no idea what I was reading)- maybe not such a good choice to pick this up at bedtime!

After a sleepless night and a lazy morning in bed (I did have plans - whoops!) I couldn't put the book down and I've finally reached the end - I loved it! A fantastic gripping story.
