Is this book unrealistic? Yes. Is it also light, fluffy, and a great way to escape? Also yes.

McQuiston wanted to write this book as escapism, and that's exactly what it is. It doesn't engage with all the topics it brings up in a way that totally unpacks the implications of them, but that's okay. It does what it sets out to do brilliantly. I enjoy the characters and the plot, and I felt warm and fuzzy at the ending just like I was supposed to. It's a good book.

sooooo good

i love the depth in this book. theres so many characters but they all make sense to be there. they all are developed and have interwined relationships and its just wonderful.

the plot? come on now. its SO FUN. its funny, sweet, sexy, exciting, and just such a fun concept. it is fun but also takes the time to still address and showcase the harsh realities that queer people face... especially in the publics eye. so good. so well written.

there was never a moment while reading that i thought i would rate the book anything less than 5 stars. i will be reading more from this author!!

This was definitely a feel-good book, and a quick read. I think many parts of the book were endearing, and there was a good flow to the writing style. For most of the book, it just seemed really romanticized and unrealistic which took away a lot of enjoyment for me. I guess I just expected more for all of the hype and it didn't live up to it for me.

This was my first LGBT romance novel, I hate to admit it, but at first I felt like they were not written for me so I shouldn’t infringe on that side of the book community. But I’ve got to say, as a woman who loves love, this was hands down one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read! Not only was this about the romance but it was about discovering yourself and what actually makes you special not only with the main characters but with the side characters too. I was rooting for everyone in this book besides the royal family (minus Bea of course).
