I liked the beginning and end but the middle dragged a bit for me. Glad I stuck with it and finished.

Just nope. So many issues with what the author writes, and no redeaming factors.

This felt like a hug.
Very relatable and reminded me that we can change our lives at any age.
Also like how it focused on older women who were fun and sexual and still figuring out life.

DNF at 28%.
Author Terry McMillan is certainly a fantastic reporter of the harsh realities that women often face; I have long enjoyed her characters, and especially those of Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Unfortunately, I was not able to connect to the characters in her newest novel quite as well and had a difficult time picking it back up to continue.
As is usual for McMillan, the novel is filled with humor, wit, intelligence and strong females; I think that, for me, the fact that this one does not include a wide-ranging age group of women and, more specifically, women who are at different stages in their lives, made this one difficult for me to connect with right now.

Years ago I read several Terry McMillan books. I've seen the movies. This one just didn't do it for me. I didn't like the language or the constant references to sex. Maybe I've changed but it just didn't appeal to me and the story didn't seem to move. I was listening to the audiobook and was bored enough to switch to the radio.

Now, I usually don't read romances. When I do, less than half probably appeal to me. So a book club I'm in picked this book, and because I always read the book, I read the book.
I loved it.
Maybe it's because the protagonist is about my age, married more than once, and a bit jaded about romance. Whatever it was, I found myself laughing and smiling along through all of Georgia's journey. I could relate.

Meh. Story did not live up to the expectations. Audio is narrated by the author, who doesn't differentiate between characters, so with all the dialog, you have no idea who is saying what. While it's probably better in print, it still seems to be lacking oomph.

I thought it was an empowering story for the career woman who's at that crossroad.

I so enjoyed this “grown folks” story of a woman discover herself @55 and the path she takes to get there. Ultimately it is a love story but not about only loving someone else. It is about learning to love yourself & open yourself to new ways of thinking and being. At 45, I can appreciate her journey. Love the way Terry McMillan told her story.

If I could give this book 6 stars, I totally would. I love the fact that Terry McMillan writes in a legitimate voice for women of her generation. No author can build characters or worlds like Ms. McMillan. I always want to move into her characters' houses, eat their delicious meals, and craft with them while having an big glass of wine. This book is no different. Georgia Young is a great protagonist and her thoughts and issues are real. I love the fact that we see her whole life: her mother, children, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Her deep and long friendships and her work/life angst will resonate with women. She is a character that definitely has flaws, but is real, relatable and fun.
I LOVED THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am having all the feels over it, and I keep reading the last three chapters and smiling. Bravo, Ms. McMillan. Please don't make us wait so long for the next one.
