4/5 stars.
so many thoughts and it’s so late. the book was wonderful. i always enjoy mythology retellings. i loved ariadne. i loved her life on naxos. i loved her relationship. i was surprised to read phaedra’s story. i wasn’t familiar with it so it was nice to learn a new tale. the novel is so well written. the words are beautiful. the prose was lovely.
despite all of this, part four was a mess. it was rushed and short and unnecessary. the book could have ended after part three and it would have been perfect.
anyways, i think it’s worth the read, especially if you like a retelling :)

I was looking for something to sate my post Madeline Miller thirst and this was suggested to me. It was entertaining enough to keep me in that world of making mythology more intimate, but definitely has a more YA feeling to it. It was a great way to round out my Greek fiction binge. I feel perfectly content to now move on to others genres.

phaedra is mn liefde mn meisje

It took me a long time to get into this book, but I am glad I stuck with it.

Libby audio. BOTM selection May 2021. Decent. Not my genre. For fans of Circe and Song of Achilles.
