This was so good. I read it in two days. I know this is relatively popular but it’s worth the hype. I hated how much I related to this. Not only does this cover the specific experience of the book, but also it masterfully shows the experience of just being a teenage girl. I was drawn more towards the younger years, probably because they are more relatable  to me, but the older years of how it has affected her and her sense of self is masterfully written. I will definitely pick up another novel by Russell.

'"i wasn't abused. [...] don't act like i don't know what i'm saying. he never forced me, ok? he made sure i said yes to everything, especially when i was younger. he was careful. he was good. he loved me." i say that over and over, a refrain that turns meaningless so quickly. he loved me, he loved me.
