If you liked the characters & emotional development of Hook, Line, and Sinker, this one is very reminiscent of that. Although, I would say Rita has far more baggage than Hannah did. So, instead it feels more like two people figuring out their issues and emotional baggage together. There is less spice in this one, but the dirty talk is 10/10.

It’s no “It Happened One Summer” but it’s pretty close. Tessa always knows how to keep her readers coming back for more with her tall dark and handsome men along with quirky women.

I actually didn’t think I would enjoy this that much, but as usual Tessa Bailey proved me wrong. I loved Jasper and his intensity so much. The spicy scenes were hotter than hot. So good!

A fun start to the series. I really liked the book after the first few chapters. It started a bit slow in my opinion, but that was just because of the setup required since the series will follow each of the family members over time. By the time they ended up in Hurley, I was invested and enjoyed it from there. While still not my favorite of the Tessa Bailey books, it was for sure worth a read.

As with Tessa's other books the sexual content is very explicit and is a constant throughout the entirety of the book and does typically involve cursing. The rest of the content warnings do contain minor spoilers:

The book starts with main character looking upon her restaurant up in flames. The very same restaurant that had been her now-deceased mother's. The main character also reflects often on her time on a cooking competition show where she did threaten someone with a knife. Finally, the other MC owns a bar so alcohol does come up from time to time.
