Maybe the book just isn’t for me. I liked it fine enough, it was pleasant and passed the time, but there wasn’t anything keeping me hooked on this book. I liked it, but that’s kind of all. The voice acting in the reading helped me not get too tired of Anne’s long speeches, so that’s good. It just felt like nothing happened except Anne talking. And I like Anne fine, but there wasn’t anything special in the book. Pleasant, well-written slice of life. If you’re looking for heartwarming and low stakes with lots of charming philosophizing, this is the book for you. :)

This series was a childhood favourite of mine and I'm glad I revisited it. It is a beautiful and inspiring story about a smart little girl who's slowly becoming a young woman. Anne of Green Gables contains a strong female friendship, desire for knowledge, beautiful nature and lots of love towards people and life of any form.
The ending is heartbreakingly beautiful. After about twenty years (since my dad first read it to me) I still love this little girl, but my favourite charecter will forever will be Matthew, who - now I rralize - is surprisingly similar to my own father.

The cast for this audiobooks is amazing, especially Mary Kate Wiles as Anne and Dylan Saunders as Matthew.
