A Christmas Carol is just a lovely short Christmas read that's a perfect representation of what the holiday is all about. I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to read classics or Christmas stories. The story creates such atmosphere and I'm always pleasently surprised by the writing style and wit used in the story.

This was the first time I’ve actually read (listened to) A Christmas Carol, and it was very interesting to actually read the story for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised to see how close all of the retellings that I have seen are to the original book, as when film adaptations are similar to the original, they’re always better for it.

I enjoyed the writing style a lot, and it didn’t feel too old, which was much more enjoyable than when you have to struggle through understanding something as the language is somewhat archaic. There were a few parts where I felt they could have moved on more quickly, but overall, it was very enjoyable, and Tom Baker reading it was a very good choice.

Who doesn't love this one?

Easy fun read. A Christmas Carol is one of the best known stories from Dickens. It's short but life altering.

Excellent narration by Patrick Stewart! He could read the phone book. Great version

Experiencing this story with Jim Dale's narration brings it to life in a delightful new way. I especially enjoyed the morning after the ghosts' visits, in which the unfettered glee just bubbles from both the writing and the reading.

The message is wonderful of course and the writing is lovely and very descriptive. It's maybe a tiny bit trite and wraps up very fast - there isn't a lot of depth to the characters, either - but it's a short story that delivers its message beautifully: reach out beyond yourself because in the end, how you touched others for good will be what truly mattered.
