3.75 stars. I have been avoiding this series for so long but I finally got into it! I liked this for the most part. It was good but this felt like an introduction book. It felt like an introduction to the world, some of the characters and the overall plot that will be in the series. I like all of the characters and how distinct their personalities are. You can tell how different they all are. Tristian and Morana have a lot of chemistry. I like them but, I don't really have a lot to say about them. I know that their relationship is going to develop more in the second book but they're good together. Tristan's backstory was so sad and it shows why he is the way he is throughout the book.

I loved Dante and Amara. I think they're going to be my favorites but it's too soon to say. My only complaint was that the book felt a bit slow at times because of how little spoken interaction we get between Tristan and Morana. There was a bunch of looking at each other and other things yet they barely spoke but in a way it worked. Also, despite what the authors note said, I did get a little annoyed after a while when Morana kept mentioning "his blue eyes" and using descriptions of "whiskey and sin" when it came to Tristan lol. Overall though, it was enjoyable, can't wait to get into the next one!

Rereading to prep for book 6 in the series set to be out in October 2024 … I was quickly reminded how much I love RuNyx’s writing style and her development of characters. A true enemies to lovers plot with not just spicy tension but a heartbreaking backstory that I just can’t read fast enough. This has been one of my favorite dark romance series to ever read, and recommend.

If it's one thing RuNyx knows how to do, it's write a compelling story. This was such a captivating and thrilling read. High Drama, sizzling tension between the FMC and MMC, twists, car chases, motorbikes, Family secrets, mafia vibes. Just perfection. You'll want to read the second book immediately.

In a fucked up way, I did love this book. Even if I didn’t always love the characters, I kind of know that wasn’t the intention and they all had so much personality, context, reasons for their actions and being. Tristan Caine isn’t a loveable, ideal book boyfriend and he’s not a character I like, honestly. The ending scene was incredible and just added depth. I’m ready to see what happens next, how he builds as a character. I really liked Morana in general, idk how she dealt with Caine and how their relationship actually started, he was only interested/showed interest over text lol. But I’m happy that she was powerful and stood her ground and a genius!!!
