I had heard great things about this book, but it was just too improbable for me. (I know, I know, picture books have their own realm) I have to admit, I wondered who Shy was, and I appreciate the coloring of the book to indicated the setting, but it didn't jump out to me. I'm sure Shy is really, really young to have never heard a bird before, but he's seen them in books?

Very sweet and very beautiful. And just a little bit meta.

Z had me reread it immediately so she could see the clues to Shy's identity. Lovely illustrations.

Sweet, charming story with beautiful, soft illustrations. I know exactly who I would want to hand this book to.

My only quibble with this gorgeous book is that we try so hard not to have kids label themselves as shy.

Super adorable story about a shy character whose name also happens to be shy. What happens when you actually live life even beyond just the beauty in pages? How much more rewarding is it when you get to share those stories with others?

A beautiful story about the magic of friendship. A great read aloud for shy children.
