The perfect quick, mindless, beach read. Liked some of the premise because wouldn't it be nice to get to know your mother before she was your mother? Loved it for making me want to live in Positano and eat everything and make up for it by climbing all those stairs.

This was not what I expected. To be honest, when I first started the book I was unsure, but I pushed on just to see. This is a love letter to Italy and an honoring of womanhood. Do not read this if you are currently grieving the death of a mother figure, for it will be triggering. But if you seek a gorgeous journey in self discovery, uncovering the truth of motherhood, and want to be transported to Positano, then this is the book for you. Absolutely beautiful!

The main character is insufferable. She's shocked when she discovers her mother has an identity outside of... being her mother. I think we are supposed to excuse Katy's actions because of her grief, but it feels like there is deep arrogance and selfishness beyond her grief that makes it hard to sympathize.
The descriptions of Italy were nice though - made me want to visit. I would not have finished it otherwise.

This book will make you want to go to Positano pronto (I hate myself too) but the ending and the mechanism for how we get there was meh. And that’s such a bummer since the world building was so lush.

The PERFECT vacation read! What a beautiful story of the evolution of one’s marriage + the relationship between a mother and daughter. My cheeks are streaked with tears…

I have never read a book quite like this and I loved it! I feel like I was on vacation with how well places are described and I loved all the food talk. The only things I thought were strange was that for the type of person her mom was, especially when she was in Italy, that they had the relationship they did. The daughter basically never thought for herself and was codependent towards her Mom. You’d think her mom would push her daughter to find herself and experience life instead.

Surprisingly moving while also being light hearted and easy to breeze through. Excellent hangover read!

I loved the entire Italy everything. I loved the idea of learning that maybe your mom wasn’t necessarily who you thought she was, and that you get to a place where you need to examine who you are. All good stuff!
The time travel bit…not so much. I suppose that facet sets it apart from the standard woman has a tragedy she goes somewhere to find herself all is well but…no. I appreciated that this was an easy read.
