In manchen Köpfen ja, in manchen Köpfen nein.

Jedenfalls unterhaltsam geschrieben.

My star rating is a very personal one. I don't judge literary brilliance here, otherwise this would get four or five stars, easily. I just didn't like this book all that much - and I don't think I was even supposed to 😅
I felt like I should add that, because, as I said, from a literary standpoint, this short novel does what it set out to do. If you love to read about twisted, despicable characters and the moral abysses that can lurk behind the façade of the "normal, happy family", I'd recommend this book. It just wasn't for me, at least not for now...

I'm really not into thrillers, so it took me a long time to pick this from my shelf. But it is definitely not what you expect it to be. When I read the blurb, I thought this might be a psychological novel about relationships, but it is something completely different instead, at least it was for me. There are a lot of wrong traces laid out and the characters are all hard to judge and even harder to bare. This was a page turner and at the same time I hated every minute having to deal with these people. Herman Koch definitely knows what he is doing, but I have to say Dutch authors never let me down so far during my reading life.
