Super fan
If you are a Supernatural fan you will love this. The author really did a great job getting Dean and Sam’s voices. I really enjoyed it.

3,5 but bonus points for... well, it's Supernatural, what am I gonna do, not love it?
My first experience with the SPN novels, this book took some getting used to, but in the end, I did really enjoy it. I feel like the author sort of grew into it with me. At first, I was pretty skeptical of the portrayal of Sam and Dean, and oh boy, did I cringe at the use of the nickname Sammich. (Of all the things DeCandido could have borrowed from fanon...) But, in my opinion, it got better, and soon enough I was most of the time able to see the Winchesters I know and love in this story.
I also really liked the character McBain, which was a nice make-up for Manfred and the other Scottso members as well as Mackey, whose characterizations were as flat as a pancake. As a fan of Poe, I also enjoyed the case that was about him (and the title of the book is a clever find!), much more so than the ghost one, which I found somewhat hard to care about. Luckily, the Poe case gets the biggest climax.
Basically, this book is your regular case ep, although in a different format and a little less well-written but still enjoyable.

Nevermore (dilimize Bir Daha Asla olarak çevrilmiş), ikinci sezonun sekizinci ve dokuzuncu bölümleri arasında geçiyor. Her ne kadar “rock’çı adamın evindeki hayalet” olayı bana çok saçma gelse de Sam ve Dean’in (ve haliyle biz izleyenlerin) alışkın olmadığı bir durum değil. Sonra yolları Edgar Allan Poe’nun New York’taki evine düşüyor, bıdı bıdı. Bıdı bıdı diyorum çünkü cidden “ooooooo” dedirten olaylar falan yok. Belki bir dizi bölümü olarak heyecanla izleyebilirdik ama kağıt üstünde olmuyor.
Bunun benim için çeşitli nedenleri var. Öncelikle, çok “fan fiction” havasında bir kitap olmuş. Yazar öncesinde dizinin hayranı mıymış, ona dair bilgi bulamadım ama değilse iyi çalışmış dersine, aferin. Fakat bu tarz bir şey yazılacaksa bence dizinin gerçek hayranlarından birine yazdırsalardı okurken çok ama çok eğlenebilirdik en azından.
Sonracığıma, hem Sam, hem de Dean’in kitap versiyonlarına biraz gıcık oldum açıkçası. Yaptıkları seçimleri, vs.’nin nedenlerini dizide bir yüz ifadesinden anlayabilirken, kitapta sayfalar dolusu “aslında Dean şöyle hissediyordu” açıklamaları boğdu beni. Dean, çok hovarda ve mızmız, Sam de eğlenmeyi hiç bilmeyen bir nörd gibi gözükmüş. Tamam, gerçekten çok uzak değil ama çok yakın da değildi.
Demem şudur ki, merak ediyorsanız deneyin—şıp diye okunuyor zaten; çok zaman kaybetmiş olmazsınız. Sonrasında da artık karar verirsiniz devamını okuyup okuyamayacağınıza. So the writing might not be spectacular but the story is great and it more than satisfied my craving for all things awesome and Winchesterly.
The title is what first grabbed me. I knew that this story would somehow be related to Edgar Allan Poe and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the fact that the guys were working two separate cases and loved the grubby dive bar music scene portrayed in this novel.
This novel feels like one of the lighter filler episodes tossed into the middle of the bigger plot arc to give the audience a reprieve from all the heavier stuff happening in the brothers' lives and it made for an entertaining read peppered with just enough character development, taking me back to season 2 when the guys were younger and greener and a whole lot less jaded. It refreshing considering the rather dark and fatalistic turn the series has taken in the latest seasons.
If you're looking for pure entertainment and a dose of Winchester awesome then I strongly recommended this book. If you're looking for a deep, thought-provoking work of literature, this probably isn't for you, despite all the connections to Poe.
