This book tells the story of the Adam Walsh (whose father hosts America's Most Wanted) murder investigation in a way that is easy to follow and keep track of all the details. The active investigation spanned nearly 3 decades, and many different people were involved during that time.

I do think that Ottis Toole was responsible for Walsh's murder, but I don't think that the "smoking gun" that led to his posthumous conviction is a damning piece of evidence. I think the Walsh family wanted to be done with the case and saw what they wanted in the photo. I don't fault anyone for this; I would have wanted closure too.

That said, there are some very interesting alternate theories online, and I want to read more about them.

Words escape me. For this to have went on for so long without the families seeing justice served is beyond me. Because of the stupidity and arrogance of one freaking detective. You may call it inexperience but I call it a travesty.

True to life story of a boy abducted in broad daylight. Some disturbing content but as the book what to convey is be vigilant in your surroundings and always keep an eye on your children. Tragic but there’s always lesson to learn.

I read this book because this happened in the town I was born in. Just 6 short years before I was born. I had no idea that this one crime led to everything in place today. It’s heartbreaking that it went on for over a quarter of a century because of shotty police work. Incredibly disturbing recount of what happened. Slow read, full of information and research, kept my interest and made me feel something.

This is not a book as much as a long newspaper article when it comes to writing style.
I guess it's true crime? I'm not familiar with the original story.

I've read a few other true crime books that were written much better.
Found this book extremely boring and it didn't keep me 'interested' because of that, so I gave up.

Absolutely shocking! I wanted to pull my hair out as i read this story in disbelief. It was written beautifully and i loved that it painted the picture of that time as to give you more of an understanding. Im glad they found peace in the end.
