This has to be one of the most precious and adorable picture books I've read. I love teddy bears and the ones in this book are the type I could fill my house with. I wanted to take them out of the book and squeeze them, hug them, and love on them so much. Jack, aka Captain Growlypants, and Lily, aka Captain Fairydust, are brother and sister and are just like a lot of brothers and sisters. But by the end everything works out just fine. A perfect book.

It can be hard to share adventures with a younger sibling. Captain Jack Growlyboots wants to have a grand pirate adventure in the backyard. His sister Lily wants to be a pirate fairy. They work together to fight the giant octopus in the dark, only to discover it is their mother with a lantern and a midnight feast. Pirates aren't afraid of the dark. Especially when they have each other to rely on and a good lantern.

A young pirate and his fairy pirate sister have adventures while camping in their backyard and prove that pirates truly are not afraid of the dark.
