I expected nothing less from Chris Carter.
After I read The Night Stalker, I was very intrigue by the vivid storytelling then proceed to by 2 more books on the series. This book is one of them.
But personally, this was harder to read and made me think about the questions raised in this book from a simple concept: choices. Just how many choices do we make in a single day? And how our simple choices would affect someone else?
If you would stumble upon some live shows that asked you to vote on how to kill someone, would you do that, thinking it was only a gimmick show? Or would you stop and think that it was all disgusting and turn off the live?
Reading this made me rethink about my own humanity. I have so much thought on this but it would probably take me too long to untangle all of that.
Just two words: be kind.

I wanted to read this book as the first book was recommended to me by a friend and I instantly loved the four books in this series, the third book still creep me out last time to this day, so I was really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and this book had me on edge.
The main character is a detective named Robert Hunter. He has another bad case. He has received an anonymous call asking him to go to a specific IP address which is linked to a private broadcast. When Hunter logs on and the show immediately starts. But the caller doesn’t just want Detective Hunter to watch, he wants him to participate, and refusing isn’t an option. Hunter is forced to make a disgusting choice; he must sit and watch as an unidentified victim is tortured and murdered live over the Internet. The LAPD, together with the FBI, must use everything at their disposal to electronically trace this transmission down, but this killer is no amateur, and he has covered his tracks from start to finish. And before Hunter and his partner Garcia are even able to get the investigation going, they receive another phone call. This killer is now live for everyone to view and the people of LA cast the deciding vote whether the person lives or dies.
I like this book; I think Chris Carter is a genius. I think the mystery and the suspense is brilliant and enough to keep you hooked. This book had me wanting more, I was on edge and frustrated like the characters the whole way through this book. I loved Hunter and Garcia’s friendship. This book made my heart hurt for Garcia, I was going to be so peed off if anything happened to them. I love Captain Blake not giving a flying fuck and wanting to pin this guy’s balls to a wall. I love the addition of Michelle and would love to see more of her in future books, I think she was brilliant and brave and just love her as a tech whizz that is completely tatted. The only thing that I would say that is a weakness, for me personally, is the short chapters. I just prefer bigger chapters. However, in this book, it did fit well with Chris Carter’s writing style where it usually doesn’t work for me. I was hooked that after a while the short chapters didn’t both me as they usually would with other authors.
Overall, the book was an easy and quick read and because the writing was amazing, the storyline freaked me out and it was overall brilliant I gave it four stars. I cannot wait for the next book in the series and how creeped out I get by Chris Carter.

As always Chris Carter has failed to deliver! He has given me the crime, thriller and suspense of this book. I love the characters in the series as I have always have, but it was interesting to get more from Garcia’s wife even if it was in not a way I was expecting.
This book brought difference to the whole crime diversion in Robert Hunters world. Having a cyber murder was both interesting and creepy at the same time. (It’s secretly making me extract weary when it comes to online 😬🤣). Coming to the end of the book I had my heart in my throat, you don’t know what to expect from this killer and especially who is involved.
My heart was pounding reading word after word and so many things were going through my head. If I had to stop reading at that point I wouldn’t be able to.
Again Chris Carter has done an amazing job! I am excited to see what he brings with the next book x
