Read this first at 11. I'm 24 now, and it's as good as I remember.

As about my third/fourth reread, this book never disappoints. Whoever saw just the movies doesn't know half the story... The way Katniss thinks and communicates with Haymitch, how the bonds get forged, what consequences come out of every sound of that canon and the aftermath of it all.

I tend not to read overly popular books for fear it won't live up to my expectations but I am so glad I did. Listening to Tatiana Maslany really brought Katniss to life in a new way. It was well written and still exciting even after seeing the films many times. Highly recommend. I am definitely going to listen to the next few books in the series and may even re-read in the future (a rare occurrence for me)

So this book is REALLY GOOD LIKE WHAT. I never thought I’d read the hunger games, dystopia is not my favourite genre. But I did it and I don’t regret it.

The main character, katniss, is very annoying and cringy through almost all of Part 1. But after she goes into action mode and is really cool

The writing is so good and it keeps you plastered to the pages like they have crack. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Effie, dear Effie, can someone do a prequel for her? Does that exist? Is it a possibility? Im sorry but she’s so interesting!!!! I want to know more about her and weekly “fuck the capital” low key phrase

!Attention! This book is very gory, which is cool- but could we step down on the pus ?!?!?)?!

I know Peetas manipulation was necessary but- 😭😭😭 why do this to my baby !!!

I read this book when I was in school and decided to come back to it when I was looking for a quick read. I really forgot how much I love this series.

1. I was SHOCKED to see that the writing in this book held up over the years. I recently read a couple of the Twilight books and, wow, I can't believe people ever compared the two in terms of writing.

2. The characters are likably flawed. They all have their flaws and characteristics that are unlikable. I think this adds to the realism of the story.

3. An easy read for most. Another thing I love about this book (and the series as a whole) is how short the books are. The story is just long enough to get invested in the characters/plot without having to slog through paragraphs of non-consequential inner dialogue.

Overall, if you're looking for a quick read - this is a great choice!
