Rarely does a picture book make me laugh out loud while reading it to Catherine, but something about how Patterson captures the acute, hopeless struggles of toddlerhood made me bounce Catherine up and down on my lap with laughter. She even started laughing at my laughing. Lots of fun. And as a parent, I can relate to days where it seems nothing seems to be going right. And the best cure for that is, as it is for Bella, a good night's rest and a fresh start in the morning.

- read by the TM whilst on School Placement.

The story of a little girl who wakes up and is feeling very shouty and how her day unfolds. I liked the humour in this story, but also the realism of how she feels and shows her emotions. It is a very simple idea, put together in a wonderful way to use in an interactive story telling session with children.
The TM has plenty of questions and reflections for the children to consider the emotions and consequences of the girls actions. She used lots of voices and tone to show off the girls feelings, and allowed the children to talk about times when they have felt like shouting or being grumpy too.

So emotional. So loud. Reminds me of Alexander's Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day that was read to me as a child. Who can't relate, when we all have a bad day now and then??

This appealed to my 4-year-old and I love reading it to him. Now I get the chance to read it to his Pre-K class, and I can't wait!

I really like the message of this book - sometimes we all have bad days, and that’s okay.

Super adorable Childrens' book! My 2 year old son got this book for free via the Imagination Library and I'm so glad he did! He & I both loved this and it was fun to read and make up voices. And, being that he's 2, we can definitely relate to tantrums of epic proportions. Highly recommend to all my mommy friends!

(blogged this here)
From the moment Bella wakes up, nothing is right. Her baby brother is in her room ("GET OUT OF MY ROOM!"), her mother tries to giver her an egg for breakfast ("I CAN'T EAT THAT!"), and I won't even mention what happens in the grocery store (except to say that the snide looks from the other customers in the store is classic)!

I bought this book for my daughter's 3rd birthday and she (and the other birthday guests) wanted to read it as soon as it was unwrapped. Just the cover alone is hysterical. Everyone (especially the adults) laughed as we read about Bella's day and recognized my daughter and her cousin on every single page. So, so cute. I highly recommend this one!
