A content warning for any prospective readers who have dental trauma or anxiety: one of the characters in this book is a sadistic dentist. Approach with caution. If you do decide to read The Cure for Dreaming, I recommend skipping chapter 7 altogether. You can easily do so without its hindering your ability to follow the plot (the chapter mostly consists of a dream sequence, and a violent one at that).
I would have put this book down for that reason, but it's really hard for me to walk away from a pro-suffrage novel.
