broooooooooo. sorry but Shannon has nothing on Joey like she was sad and bullied but this kid has it ROUGH. I absolutely loved it. I was not expecting the graphic smut scenes unlike binding and keeping 13 with the worse than fade the black: the cut scene, dead, gone, buried scenes. #LOVELOVELOVEDIT I wasn't planning on reading this bc tbh in the first 2 books I could not give less of a fuck about aoife and joey bc they were already together but now my whole perspective has changed. Do miss my little johnny joo joo tho so I may skim-read the first 2 again. WE SAW GIBSIE!!!!!!!!!!!! fucking legend that one. k byeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I'd be lying if the physical books weren't part of the reason, I initially picked up the first book in this series, but I was quickly hooked from the second I started reading. I don't typically like when series shift main characters or kind of tell the same story just in a different POV, but I think this one did it really well because we end this book just as we start catching up to Shannon's story and we're learning so much more about Joey. The Joey in Shannon's story just seemed like the protective big brother who was doing everything he could for his siblings. We don't really learn just how bad it was for him, and even worse for him than his siblings since he took most of the abuse. Don't get me wrong Shannon gets a lot of it too, but we don't see the heartbreak in her POV as much. We kind of learn the truth about their family in her books but it's a big mysterious thing for a lot of her story while in Joey's it's the main focus. I also thought Joey and Aoife had been together for like ever and honestly that wasn't the case. It's a heartbreaking story and it just really gets sadder and sadder as the story goes. It does end on a cliffhanger, and we learn more in the next book, which does end in an HEA for Joey.
