This was such an amazing read that had me going through all of the emotions. I hate what Iris had to endure, but I love the love she has with August

This book really pulled on my heart strings. I’m still processing it. This wasn’t an easy read because of the topics but it was an amazing story. This isn’t an ordinary love story, this is a story of survival.

Timing..

Iris and August have an instant connection when they first meet however, Iris is already spoken for. At a point where Iris is trying to map out her life, events out of her control begin to transpire cutting off her independence and making her more dependent on her “golden boy” NBA star boyfriend Caleb.

Caleb just happens to be August’s rival in the NBA. This isn’t an ordinary rivalry amongst players though, Caleb hates August. To add to the toxic tension, August has his eyes on his girl. That simply won’t do.

While Caleb and Iris are experiencing this tumultuous relationship. August can’t forget the girl he met at the bar that night.

I’ve only ever read Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan so I figured I would like this book. I didn’t know I was going to love it. I didn’t know that it was going to get me in my feels or that I would shed a couple of tears. This story was so real and heavy. But the romance was everything and it was so satisfying.

“I was there when the levees broke.”

When that line was repeated it reactivated my tear ducts. There was so much pain in that chapter. It really puts things into perspective. This story shouted so many things at me. It wasn’t my story but I just connected!

I loved this. It’s in my cart and I need it on my shelf.

“During the day, when things are brightest, we don’t see the stars, but they are there. It’s only in the contrast of night, when things are darkest, that the stars shine.”

i can’t even begin to describe how hard of a read this was, but also how necessary it is for people to give it a chance and read it. the emotional rollercoaster i went through was unlike any other book i read, so if you do read this please please check the tw’s (unfortunately i went in blind and thought this would be all cute & fluffy

Way too long and I could barely get through the graphic scenes.
