I thought this was the last in the series, but I was obviously mistaken. Thinking back I feel like not that much actually happened in this book, but I never felt bored while reading it. But there was definitely great setup for the next book, which I don't mind at all.

I found this to be a much weaker installment than the first 'trilogy' in the series. Age of Myth would be its most relevant counterpart sense they both kick of the three book arcs that comprise the series and I definitly enjoyed Age of Myth more even with its slower pace and necessary world building. I think I generally find the 'main' characters in the first trilogy much more compelling and well rounded. While some of those characters still have povs in this book they are very much sidelined in favor of Brin and Tesh (who I think have great potential but I just don't love them and their story so far as I did the original three). Age of Death is certainly set up to potentially be very interesting from a plot perspective but my expectations are tempered after feeling a bit let down my this one.

If I didn't work tomorrow, I'd already be cracking open Age of Death....
